Learning from each other - this is an essential aspect of the One Firm concept at Schunk and also a key driver for Global Operations. The team led by Ibrahim Can, Head of Global Operations, promotes the exchange of experience between the operations divisions in the Schunk Group across all Business Units.
Operations managers meet in Lindenstruth
This week, the Operations Managers of all ten Business Units met and visited the Weiss Technik plant in Lindenstruth. The focus of the exchange was on challenges and approaches to solutions in the implementation of measures within the framework of Prodex (Production Excellence). This provided ample opportunity for discussions from lean practitioner to lean practitioner.
Dirk Richard, Director Global Operations of Weiss Technik, emphasized the importance of operational management and showed best practices in the newly revived shopfloor management. In addition, the introduction of self-controlling material supply cycles - keyword KANBAN - and clocking of assembly processes were demonstrated.
"The colleagues were enthusiastic and took away good approaches that are transferable to their daily challenges," Can concluded from the meeting.
SIK and Weiss Technik network
Different project, same topic: Schunk Ingenieurkeramik (SIK) at the Willich site and Weiss Technik want to improve shopfloor management at their sites. To this end, production specialists from both sites recently visited Sinter Metals in Heuchelheim, where they already have a lot of experience in this area.
The focus here was on best practices at Prodex and, in particular, shopfloor management. "In particular, we took a close look at the key figures used, the derivation of measures and the meeting structure and, in addition, accompanied the meetings from worker to management level - the so-called meeting cascade," explains Ibrahim Can.
In addition, the participants at the meeting discussed what the success factors are for the introduction of shopfloor management. In the future, the experts from Sinter Metals will support their colleagues from SIK and Weiss Technik selectively with the implementation in the respective plants.
