Quality test to determine the abrasion resistance of optical elements according to ASTM/ISO standards

The test uses 500g of Alundum per cycle
Number of cycles can be customised, but to be compliant to the standard, a Bayer Test needs 600 strokes in 240 seconds (with a small tolerance)
The tray can accommodate two lenses per cycle, so to have the most reliable results by placing a reference lens and a sample in the other position

Having a Bayer Test machine (together with a haze meter) is that each new process (hard coating and AR coating) can be tested internally for abrasion resistance, without relying on external laboratories
